Excellent post. Wile some of the points are more obvious, some of the more obscure ones I was just realizing for myself. I understand the gist of point #20 (being picky) but my reasons for using the online services was because I work overnights and sleep days, meaning I never see a (new) human being in my day-to-day existence, so it wasn’t necessarily because I was overly picky. Actually I had started “dumbing down” my profile because I thought perhaps that was the issue but I’m pretty sure I know what my issues were: I’m 47 and have visible tattoos. I got the the guys who thought they could “handle” it but apparently couldn’t. Presently I am dating someone who likes the way I look, tattoos and all, but if I ever need those sites in the future, I won’t expect much.

A handy set of things to consider. Although I would be more inclined to consider these as guidelines and rules of thumb. Most have more than a kernel or two of truth to them. Someone may quibble with a couple of your observations, but they certainley are things to think about.

Of course the flip side is that someone puts almost nothing in their profile and so tells almost nothing about themselves and leaves too much to the imagination.
