Gameplay Mechanics
The primary goal in Granny is to escape the house within five in-game days. Players must explore different rooms, find hidden keys, tools, and other objects, and solve puzzles that allow them to unlock doors or create escape routes. However, doing so without being caught requires stealth, patience, and a good memory.
Granny has heightened senses. She can hear sounds from moving objects, doors opening, or players walking on certain floors. This mechanic forces players to move carefully, plan their steps, and often hide in closets or under beds to avoid detection. The game also introduces secondary threats, such as traps, which add another layer of difficulty.
In addition to the standard version, DVloper released
Granny: Chapter Two, which adds a new antagonist, Grandpa. This sequel increases the difficulty and expands the game environment, providing a more challenging experience for seasoned players. The interplay between Granny and Grandpa requires more advanced strategies, as players must avoid detection from both characters simultaneously.
Puzzles and Items
The house in Granny is filled with a variety of puzzles and locked areas. Players need to find items such as keys, pliers, hammers, and screwdrivers to unlock doors, open safes, or remove obstacles. Each item is hidden carefully, sometimes in plain sight but often in secret locations. Players must also use objects creatively; for example, moving a box to reach a higher shelf or dropping an object to distract Granny.
Some puzzles are timed or have multiple steps, requiring players to think ahead. For example, certain doors may need a combination of items to unlock, and failing to prepare adequately can result in getting caught. The game encourages exploration and experimentation, rewarding players who pay attention to details and remember item locations.
